Meeting Up: Of Lunches, Teas, and Dinners...

Checklist to do before going to Canada:

6) Get Visa: Checked!

7) Buy Plane Ticket: Checked!

8) Meet up with as many friends as possible: Almost There!

16) Get Luggage Tags: Checked!

Yay! I finally got my visa, and along with that, my plane ticket...=)

I'm out of town at the moment, and am staying with my friend at Sunway Pyramid Tower Hotel...She's here for work, so I'm basically crashing with her...It sure saves a lot of money!

Have been busy in the last few days. I came on Monday, and spent the first day lounging by the pool. Had a lovely time swimming under the man-made rocks, and in the cool water. I had an interesting encounter there with some kids, and will tell you about it in the next post because I have yet to get pictures (will do so tomorrow) of the gorgeous pool...

Had coffee and cake with the ever-lovely Kak Ruby (Photo stolen from her)...

Than on Tuesday, spent the whole morning in the High Commission of Canada waiting for my visa to be processed. I had got an sms from Kak Ruby Ahmad the night before asking if I was free to meet her the next day for coffee at The Gardens, Midvalley, so I spent the afternoon with her...

We were initially to meet the last trip down, but between me meeting Tun Dr Mahathir, and her busy with work, we could not meet each other's schedule. So thank heavens, we finally got to meet! We had a wonderful time chatting and before we knew it, 3 whole hours had passed...

I learnt alot from chatting with her-of her travels over the world, of motivation, of people and of the outside world. And I am most grateful for that. And, thanks for tea...=)

Lunch at Madam Lim's: Clockwise from left: Tony Yew, Rikey, Me, MarinaM, MariaSamad (Kak Ton), with Mob1900 taking the picture...

Today, we had lunch at Madam Lim's, organised by Aunty Maria. It was a lovely meal, so thank you, Aunty Maria! It was just so nice to meet up with some bloggers again =) Too bad quite a few couldn't make it though...

The food was good, and although everybody was initially confused about exactly where this attap-roofed shop was ("Eh? Madam Lim? Madam Kwan got lar"; "Daphne, where exactly is near-Giant?"; "I can't find the shop!"; and Daphne going: "Er...I don't know. I'm telling you what Aunty Maria said!"), I think everyone had a nice, happy (very full) tummy...

Oh, and Tony Yew succeeded in reaching the peak of Mount Kinabalu just recently. He and Aunty MarinaM (who climbed last year) were busy comparing notes, and this blog-owner, who can't even climb Bukit Kelebang or 3 flights of steps, wishes to congratulate Tony for his recent success!

From Left: Aunty Shantini, Me and Aunty Dalilah...

Among the bloggers who couldn't make it was Aunty Dalilah. But as I was coming out of my shower after lunch, I got a call from her saying she was coming to the hotel so we could have dinner in Sunway Pyramid, after her work! So we had dinner, and we later adjourned for coffee and were joined by the friend I am staying with, Aunty Shantini...(Thanks for dinner, Aunty Dalilah and Uncle Saiful)

Me and Mat Salo...

I was also lucky enough to meet up with Mat Salo when he last came back from the oil rig. But since I also met Tun Dr Mahathir during that trip, I didn't blog about this meet =) We (Mob1900 and me) thought MS was going out for a smoke, when we realised he had gone to pay. He insisted lunch was on him when we argued, so thank you for the huge Japanese lunch!

My initial plan was to laze in the hotel room and not do much this trip, except to get my visa and to have lunch with Aunty Maria and 'geng'. But things didn't turn out that way. My friend remarked: "For someone who said she wasn't meeting anybody, you sure are meeting a lot of people!"

Hehe...True also ar...

Anyway, here are two pictures of the view I have from my room on the 20th floor:-

Sunway Lagoon Resort...

Sunway Lagoon...

Phew...What a waste of electricity! It is beautiful, of course, but gosh, the amount of power they're using!

Hey Daphne,
Thanks for the wishes, and really the best to you too....Your llife journey has long ago taken off, but this is a whole new chapter....
As for Kinabalu....with Air Asia...Now Everyone Can Climb!(someone said this on our way up and I can't quote remember who!) But you should do that too someday....
Take care

Hello Daphne,

I did not realise 3 hours passed by...ha ha. That must be testimony as to how interesting our chat was that day.

I must take my hat off to you. For a girl so young, you have accomplished a lot. Most of the things that you have achieved came about from your positive attitude towards life. From our chat too, I learned that you always negotiate from a 'No' to a 'Yes'. Not many people have that ability & commitment. You are never afraid to go for what you believe in. Well done young lady. I too learned from you.

You mentioned 'success' here. I always believe success is subjective. From what I have observed over the years from my school days till now, with people I have mingled from all walks of life I view success with a different perspective these days.

I wrote my opinion on success somewhere: Here they go:

Success is subjective. A positive person combating a serious illness with positivity could equal success of a candidate winning an election perhaps?

Success is subjective: D late Mother Theresa could be viewed more successful than any living leader today.

People always viewed success as wealth, glory, status & power. But people forget the invisible eyes up above view success in different context perhaps. It could be simple kind acts but sincere & no pomp & pageant to go with those acts. One just did it for love.

Saving a needy child in hospital is a success!

Just concentrate on your sincere work.

Keep being you, Daphne.

Hi Daphne...

It is always a pleasure having you around... like I said yesterday, while you are not yet in Canada, how about coming down here often...anyway since shantinni is here every week...hehehe

time flies so fast huh last nite? luckily, uncle had something else to make his thought not thinking apalah yg kita bualkan sampai tak ingat dia...hehehehe

Dear Daphne..

Glad to know you had everything ready for your trip.

I was in KL the last few days.. too bad I miss the chance to treat you to a good meal! I will be in KL again next week on 1st & 2nd July..

If you happen to be around .. let me know!

Take care & all the best to you ..

Hello Daph,
Congratz, more of your missions accomplished :)
All the best.

Wish you all the best Daph, and make M'sian proud.

Bye Daph.

Amboi! busy nampak. dengar pun i letih. hehe. jgn lupa makan kenyang2. nanti dah sampai canada, kena makan roti aje. :P

p.s. already imagining u visiting me during spring break. *wink*

Hi Tony,

Ah ha! Ini curi Air Asia punya tagline lar ni...;)

I wanted to climb Kinabalu a looong time ago, but I also know I ain't fit enough ler...The most I can do is reach the bottom la (cos with Air Asia everyone can fly ma)...

Was near there in 2004, in Tenghilan. I tell you, the mountains were breathtaking!

You take care too...=)

Daphne,
First please allow me to congratulate Tony Yew and Marina M for their successful climb of Gunung Kinabalu. Today 28th June I too climbed Gunung Kinabalu but never to the peak as my son in laws's car can only reach the gated entrance to the first trek to base camp.
Earlier I sprained my leg while I was returning from taking pictures Kepungit Waterfall at Poring Hotspring when I fell down due to the wet trail. Still cant walk straight, dunno if it will heal before my return to Kelantan this 2nd July.
I am still dreaming of meeting up with you before you leave for Canada and hope God will fulfill this one dream like he fulfilled your dream of meeting Dr. M.
Will call you to wish you goodbye before you leave incase we wont get to meet.

How i wish I was in KL too so I can meet all the people as well. Must be nice for the soul and stomahc as well :-)

Hi Kak Ruby,

"People always viewed success as wealth, glory, status & power. "

Yeah, we do tend to do that, don't we? I always felt though that although those things do matter in their own way, I'm sure there are other things that matter too...

Like a person who has no money, but will give their seat to someone who needs it more. I'm sure that must count for something, compared to a person with plenty of money who gives money because he/she wants to 'get rid' of the begger...Right?

I'm glad I met you Kak Ruby. Despite getting lost repeatedly *Lol*, it was worth it! Thanks for the sharing too. I sure won't spent RM 25 000 on a dress, even IF I had that money, that's for sure! ;)

Hi Aunty Dalilah,

It's always a pleasure being around you too! I'm sure Uncle dah biasa dah when ladies meet, they talk until no stop wan ;)

Did he find what he wanted, by the way?

As for Aunty Shanthini, she sends her regards, and cannot lar go down with her everytime...Then if her hubby want to go also cannot lar!

Will talk to you soon re the pomeloes, ya?

Hey Everyone,

I have to go. Will reply to comments some other time, ok? Cheers!

Hi Uncle Jimmy,

Darn. I didn't know you were around. But then again, like I said, I wasn't planning on meeting people. The planning can drive me crazy la...;)

This is late, but I wasn't in KL on the 1st/2nd July...Sorry to miss you again...

Take care now!

Hey Akmal,

Yeap, more of my list being fulfilled...But until they are all fulfilled, I mesti stress la...Hehe...

Hi Wak Masnoor,

Wa, tall order la ni. I will try and do my best though...Thanks! ;)

Hey Kak Farina,

Haha. Jauh lar, from my place in Canada to you in CA. Very jauh lar...But who knows, kan? Anything can happen...;)

I pun letih lar...Tidor je berjam-jam after everything is over. Must be a sign of getting old...Haha!

Hello Pak Zawi,

Looks like you're having fun! I visited your blog, but I'm having problems reading your post (Part 3 of Labuan Revisited) as banyak sangat the pictures, and I can't load them all =(

Still hoping to see you before I go though. But will definitely keep in touch via the blogs! =)

Hey Jo-D,

You're far away la...Darn far...

You're right about it being nice for the soul and stomach, although it sure wasn't good for the thighs and fat-accumulating spare tyres around the midriff! ;) Hehe...

heyy... when are you leaving?? all the best ya!!
